IntegriGuard Opens New Operations in Topeka to Ensure Medicare Integrity

(Topeka, Kansas) - IntegriGuard, LLC, a Federally-designated Program Safeguard Contractor (PSC) for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicare Integrity Program, will open a new office in Topeka on March 17, 2003. IntegriGuard, which recently won a major contract to administer Medicare’s Integrity Program in parts of the Midwest, will handle functions aimed at ensuring the integrity of the Medicare program.

Staffed with experienced fraud investigators, the new office will handle benefit integrity activities associated with Medicare Part A & B claims processed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arkansas, and TriSpan (an operating division of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi), for the states of Kansas and Missouri.

The benefit integrity activities to be performed by IntegriGuard include fraud case development, data analysis, fraud prevention/detection education, and fraud complaint development. The current Medicare fiscal intermediaries (FIs) and carriers will continue to perform claims processing, medical review, and program management activities such as customer service and provider support.

Omaha, Nebraska-based IntegriGuard was formed in 1999 as a national division of CMRI, California’s Quality Improvement Organization for Medicare, and has just recently been spun off as an independent entity. IntegriGuard is currently one of 12 Program Safeguard Contractors in the nation.
